Game stores have been doing this for a while, but it was refreshing to hear a shop owner be so earnest about it: “I hired a hot girl.” I can say in no uncertain terms that it works on most men, of which their customer base is almost entirely comprised.

I am not above being manipulated by batting eyelashes either, which already happens constantly in restaurants. Everyone has to make a living.

You may notice something different around here. Smashing Avatar 2.0 has launched! You’ll notice a lot more customization around many aspects of the site, as well as the new logo. We felt it was time for an upgrade, and that is just one part of our big plans for the future. We have quite a few new things on the horizon.

We’ve implemented Cast Page for new readers to become acquainted with our characters. The profiles also contains more insight for you, our current readers, into the minds of the colorful cast of Smashing Avatar. You can also access this page from the link in the “Featured Avatar” picture to the left or in our main menu above the comic.

We’re working on designs to offer a few different original T-shirts for sale in the next few months, so look for a “Store” section to go up in the near-ish future. We’re still working on the details, but we have a few designs in mind that we are sure will appeal to you guys. Really, I just want new T-shirts to wear myself, but I’m going to let you in on the fun too.

Another page we’ll be opening up is a Concept Art section. The plan is to use that to provide additional content to you, the reader, to ogle free of charge as usual. I’m not sure when that will launch, but we will be sure to let you know when it does, and I am positive that it will appear in the main menu bar above the comic.

We will be hitting San Diego Comic Con in a few weeks. If you’ll be there, give us a ring in the comments, on Twitter, Facebook, or Google+ and we will arrange to say “What’s up”. We might even have something to give you. And we know how you like free things.

You can also use those feedback machines in the paragraph above to let us know what you think of our new site, or if there are any changes you would like to see. We love to hear from you.
