Banned For Life
The Primrose Everdeen thing was all over the Internet when the Hunger Games movie came out. I found a YouTube video of some girl doing exactly what Ryan did in today’s comic, and it was incredibly unexciting and unfunny. The guy at the counter seemed unfazed by the entire thing, as though he doesn’t really care what you say just as long as you take your damn coffee and go.
As for Chuck E. Cheese (which I always thought was Chuckie Cheese), I’m sure there are a lot of things that can get you kicked out of one. Just off the top: stealing tickets from children, kicking a clown in the nuts, or hitting a kid in the face with a pizza. And that’s not even scraping the surface of the possibilities. What Ryan did was probably much more wild and impulsive than any of that. I’ll leave it to you to imagine.
I never went to Chuck E Cheese as a kid. I’m not sure if they even existed at the time. There were similar arcade slash fun center type of places. Maybe someone else can tell me, but I’m not entirely sure what makes Chuck E Cheese so special, besides killer marketing techniques, and a big mouse man. The commercials always emphasize the ball pit, but even McDonalds have those now.
I recently did go to a Chuck E Cheese once with my family for dinner. We had no children except for the one in my sister’s belly. We heard they had good pizza, and it was not bad, but not great either. I think the opinion came from a small child in my Mom’s Kindergarten class, so that is unsurprising. Children have little basis for comparison. When I was a kid, my idea of a good place to eat was Burger King.
Of course, I did look at the video game selection while I was there, but honestly it was pretty weak. It wasn’t even on par with the low budget arcade down the street, which has since closed down. They didn’t even have Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Either of them! Besides which, there were screaming children everywhere, and I didn’t want to stay on the floor long enough to play even one game, let alone sink 5 dollars into beating one. They could have kicked me out, because I wouldn’t go back there if you payed me.
