Remember when we were happy to watch static laden network TV in black and white on a 2 inch screen if we were away from home? We’d put aluminum foil on rabbit ears and duck tape it to the ceiling in one corner just to get a decent signal.

Now if we don’t have a flat screen with 1080p, it’s not acceptable. Our cell phones have better screens than our televisions did when I was a kid. And they can stream television in HD in any corner of the globe.

And if that stream pauses for buffering more than 5 seconds we start to freak out. God forbid the image quality is anything short of perfect.

What happened to us?
