If I put a “violence” tag on any of our comics it would be gigantic in the Tags section of our website. The word would eclipse all other words. It would beat them up and steal their lunch money. I’m not really worried that someone might discover my dreams of bludgeoning people with my laptop or, more accurately, bludgeoning my laptop with people. If they were going to lock me up for shit like this, they would have already done so.

We are still in the midst of a mid-Summer video game drought. There are a few interesting PSN/XBLA titles arriving soon, but for the most part nothing is slated for release until September. So I continue to catch up on games I missed whilst wandering the desert lands of Los Angeles. White Knight Chronicles has been out for over a year ago, but it has been long enough since I have played a JRPG (I would hesitate to call it traditional) and the sequel is one of those aforementioned September release games. It seems like as good a time as any to try it out.

I was forewarned that the plot is the standard “Save the Princess” story, but I balked at the insinuation that this would be considered a problem. I was born to save princesses. It is what I do. The plot is not the strongest or most though provoking to start out with, but there is room for political intrigue to play a stronger role later on, so I remain optimistic.

The game plays like a decent MMO without the other people. AI controls your other party members and you can customize each character in a fairly simple manner. An unseen skill tree governs progress for each type of weapon and magic. Creating custom combos is neat and not so complicated as to defy usability. You could spend endless hours creating a multitude of different combos for each character but, since you really only need 2 or 3 of them, the task is not quite as daunting as it might at first seem.

Dark Age of Camelot on the Uthgard free server still has command of my days and my nights. The three way RvR (Realm vs Realm) combat is still as potent as ever. In fact, it seems to be even more active on this free server. I would cite the lack of a large portion of the PvE content originally added by the numerous expansions. There really is no PvE endgame on this server. Anyone playing on Uthgard is doing so with the goal of laying waste to their fellow players. That is all. I will broach the subject no further.
